Day 1 overview

Yesterday was my day 1 of an egg fast. I woke up ravenous for sugar because I did the opposite of what I know is wise and I had a last crazy carb loaded night with chips and salsa and ice cream. 😳
But, instead of the sugar I craved I made myself a green tea with coconut oil and stevia. This held me over while I got the kids up, dressed and fed. The rest of my day was as follows:
10am- three eggs fried with butter
2pm- three hard boiled eggs with mustard
6pm- three scrambled eggs with butter
8pm- herbal tea with stevia and coconut oil

I went to bed still craving sugar and very tired but I woke up this morning feeling good.

Sadly, my weight was a high of 217 yesterday morning.

Today it is 215. I was likely bloated and lost some water. I’ll take it. Can’t wait to be under 200 again. I want to be a healthy active mama.... and even grandma one day.

I’m back!

Shortly after I posted last I got pregnant with baby number 2. So grateful for my baby but the pregnancy was really rough on me and My weight has gotten out of control again. My goal is to get back to 180 pounds and stay there. I just weaned from breastfeeding so I now feel ready to do an egg fast to kick off healthy eating again. I need a major sugar detox. I don’t have a lot of time to obsess over food and cooking so an egg fast will be great for this phase in my life. I start tomorrow and am thinking of going for 7 days and see how it goes. Anyone still out there?

Hello out there...

I just remembered my blog yesterday....soon after my last post in 2013 I got pregnant.... I was elated as my husband and I had been trying for a long while. While pregnant I stuck to a paleo style of eating mostly but some days I did eat treats or went out to a non paleo dinner. At the end of my pregnancy in September of 2014 I was 228 pounds. I got down to 195 by six months after her birth by just eating healthfully. I did a round of whole 30 and got to 180 and stuck here since summer 2015. I'm pretty happy here. I feel great. I eat healthfully, I enjoy Pilates, weights, and running. I'm enjoying motherhood.  I've used the egg diet a couple times for a couple days when I eat processed foods or sugar and the cravings come back hard. Besides that I'm just trying to live in balance.

Answers

Some people have been asking why I am following a mono-diet. It is not because I want to only eat eggs. However I have experimented a lot with food over the years. I used to be morbidly obese and over 300 pounds…I also have been at a very fit healthy 140-something. The issue that is always the same is I am a sugar addict to an insane degree.

Eggs seem to do something for me that nothing else can do while I am getting off the sugar. When I am back on sugar my life is a nightmare. Even a little bit of processed sugar or highly processed carb and I am in a binging cycle. The egg diet puts me back into control. (I tried fish, veggies, chicken, turkey, steak, avocados, and almonds too…but eggs seem to work best) This time I am doing it 21 days again. However I do plan to listen to my body.

Also, I am not doing it for the quick weight loss. The quick weight loss was a happy side effect of the experiment. I am doing it to be able to actually eat but not binge and feel good.

So I am just finishing up day 5 and I feel so amazing…..not physically yet….I still feel a little tired….but mentally. It is so freeing to be off the sugar roller coaster. I feel like I can move forward in life again. :)
